What an honor today to speak at Room Full of Sisters where we gathered with peace, unity and came together in Sisterhood to support, share and empower each other. I am grateful for this opportunity to share my speech, The Lioness:
Many of my female friends asked me why I participated in the march for women’s rights.
I wasn’t there with a political sticker, but with love and solidarity in my heart. To me sides did not matter (Republican, Democrat or Liberal) but the middle space of us coming together in dialogue.
But I wonder, as the nation evolves, where will I fit in? One could self-describe me as conservative in some beliefs, right wing in others and so far to the left liberal, that I cannot be stamped with anything. I guess it’s my Aquarius ways to prefer the path of peace first and engage in conversation that showcases all sides.
As I stand united with all the essence of myself, I understand that I cannot label myself as for one political party or another, since some of the both parties create a distain and some create a euphoric celebration for their values.
The only thing I can claim is I AM a WOMAN, and therefore I roar like a lioness.
It is my birth rite to feel and exude love. I must emit love to the world. To be a walking example for compassion and be compassionate with myself. When my self-critic amps up for the night saying, “Your day should have gone differently. I say well I did the best I could do and I am grateful for today.”
Like the stars in the sky on a cloudy night, one can hardly see them, but we know they are out there. That is for me, the state of the planet right now. People are wondering do the stars really exist?
In the mask of the cloudiness, a rainbow is soon to follow. “Somewhere over the rainbow”, how I love that phrase.
We must be gentle with ourselves and my dear sisters and brothers, we walk this walk together. In some form, we as ONE planet are in this union.
Let’s try to find a common ground, to plant the harvest for the comings of the next generations and leave the beautiful markings of our actions on our communities.
One seedling can grow into a beautiful flower, as my Nana Rose would say. Maybe we might want to think about how we can water the garden of our own lives. Then we can celebrate the harvest of the fruits of our labor and become that which we wish to see in the world.
Like a baby that needs caring after by his mother or father, we can swaddle ourselves in blankets of love.
So, in response to those who ask why I marched, why I pen the truth inside of me, why I write self-help books, why I bring people together in sharing circles – because it is my duty and honor to celebrate the essence of all of us.
As a teacher, miracles unfold right in front of me. Propelled by mind thoughts, accelerated by the ability to manifest dreams and parking of the self-critic. Mastering is no easy task, one can be a master of none or many things. It really doesn’t matter at the end of the day, we after all have incarnated to play in the adventure of life.
If we see life as day unfolding for our growth and expansion, and we celebrate the moments along the day, we find gratitude brings joy. My backpack of responsibilities like many of you burdened with self-inflictions of old storylines that don’t serve us well any more, replaced by internal truths that we are worthy, we are love and we are here for a purpose.
Honoring the journey of the pathway to get to this place in time isn’t easy. But it required. All moments form who we are. There may be one road, which leads to another road, intersecting at certain places and roads less traveled.
If you feel passionate about something, follow that inner desire. Step over fear. Spread your wings for the world to see.
Like a butterfly that emerges from the cocoon state, it grows over a gestation period and it needs nourishment time to grow. We too need times of quietude, or spaces where we can process things in our life. When we practice self-care, like a walk-in nature, getting a massage, taking an art class if it calls to us – we honor aspects of ourselves that can be nourished. Then we refuel and feel refreshed. We then can see life in a different viewpoint.
Which brings me back to the lioness. A lion likes her pack, she cares for her baby lions but she can be fierce as well. As we step forward as the world continues to evolve, remember the gentleness of the lioness as she cares for her cubs and the fierce side of her convictions. Just be true to you!
WE are the lioness so let her emerge and then sit for a while with all of you, to feel your powerful self, to see the beauty within, to celebrate all that is, then turn to your sister and brother and invite them in the lion’s den to share the truth that we have always known through the ancient times, that collectively we are better than one single star.
That in unison we are Oneness and that in celebration, we are amazing!
